My "baby" isn't a baby anymore

Yes, you are seeing one of my nightmares.... Ashley out of a crib. You are not imagining it.... at 2 years and 4 months old she managed to crawl out of her crib like she had been doing it for a year.

Here's how it all happened.....

Tuesday afternoon at around 4:30 Rob and I are in our room with Abby and hear a door open.

We say, "Anna, we are in here."

And to our surprise we see a little blonde hair girl bee booping into our room with a proud smile behind her paci. We are speechless. Rob says, "ummmmmmmmmm, how did she do that?"

Before I am answer Ashley responds to Daddy, "Me got out of crib by meself. Me not need help anymore."

Pause. We are speechless.

Rob looks at me and says, "What does that mean?"

We laugh.

Rob looks at me again and says, "Huh? It's a long way for her to get down again by herself....."

I had to see it to believe that she really climbed the crib instead of morphing through it or something. So we headed into her room and here's what we saw.

Piece of cake. No problem. No big deal. It was like she had been climbing the crib for ages.

So panic struck our eyes (Anna would have never thought of doing this; she was in a crib until she was over 3 years old) and imagining her climbing the crib again only to break her arm we hurried to move the toddler bed that was still in Anna room into her room.

And Ashley thinks it is pretty darn cool to be in a big girl bed! Two nights into it she has successfully gone to bed and staying in bed until morning. She doesn't call for us to come and get her (unlike Anna still does most of the time) she instead climbs out and wanders around the house looking for us. Her first nap was a disaster and every couple of minutes she kept coming out of her room and asking things like, "Do we get treats after dinner," and "Is Anna asleep?" She never went to bed that first afternoon in her big girl bed but today we had a successful nap. So fingers crossed that the novelty of the big girl bed has worn off and that she continues to take her good 2-3 hour naps like before.

What a big girl!

Much Love,
Jenny
