Kate In Hospital

This past week Kate was in the hospital for two days and two nights with something called orbital cellutitis; a very bad sinus infection that resulted in a super swollen eye. It was scary but once she got to Children's Mercy Hospital we knew she would be ok. Lucky for her no surgery was needed and a couple days of antibiotics in her iv was all she needed.

The girls were super worried for her. Anna told me that the only thing she can think of lately is Kate and all she wants to do is be with her. So we spent some time with her. The girls enjoyed being in the hospital with her so we visited frequently- 2 hours on Wednesday and over 4 hours on Thursday. We kept her company in her room, visited the gift shop, ate at the cafeteria, painted Abby's toenails, colored in an adult coloring book, were very intrigued by all the doctors and nurses we saw take care of Kate and Kate even ordered us treats from her menu to her room.

We are so glad she is on the road to recovery. We love our cousin so much :)

Anna Soccer Game

Pictures from our last game of the season watching Anna (it was actually her second to last game. We were out of town for the last one).

Anna is becoming more and more aggressive and beginning to understand the game more. But she definitely LOVES the social aspect to soccer and LOVES seeing and playing with her friends :) She can't wait until Spring Soccer starts.

Go Unicorns!

Anna's Church Chimes Performance

Two Sunday's ago Anna's elementary chimes group played during our church service. Rob and I happened to be out of town for a wedding, but Grama got her there to practice and play :) They had been working on Jesus Loves Me and Anna had only practiced with one chime. But that is not how she played it. One of the other kids didn't show up and there was an extra chime needing to be played. So they gave it to Anna and she handled it with ease. My mom and another mom took video and sent it to us to watch. It brought tears to my eyes watching Anna play the chimes and mouth out every word to Jesus Loves me. I just love that Anna is getting a chance to fall in love with making music.

Clare's Birthday Sleepover

A couple Fridays ago the girls attended their first non-family members birthday sleepover. Even though I really don't think they should have sleepover until 2nd grade, I budged because all neighbor Clare wanted for her birthday was for Anna, Ashley and Lucy to spend the night at her house.

Anna and Ashley were so, so, so excited! The party started with an afternoon jump session at Urban air, pizza at Clare's, finger nail painting, watching the movie Home and then staying up super, super late. Anna lasted all night and I got a call at about 10:15 to come and get Ashley. She wanted her bed and felt like the other girls were being "bossy" to her. But really they were just telling her to stop doing cartwheels on top of everyone and to be quiet :)

Then we had a nice morning breakfast at the Harpers and headed home for soccer games. So much fun celebrating one of our very best friends birthday!!! We love Clare :)

Anna's Blue Valley Virtue Award

During the first month of school Anna came home saying she had gotten some sort of award and was on the morning announcements. I had no clue what she was talking about until this came home from school with a little "gift" from the school.

Her school recognizes certain students throughout the school who have showed certain Blue Valley virtues throughout the school year. She had been recognized by her teacher (Mrs. Z) for the virtue of RESPECT. Since she doesn't go to the end of the school day assemblies, the principal came and recognized her in front of her classmates.

She didn't realize what a big deal this was until we told her it was. And she was SO happy and proud of herself. Keep up the good work Anna; you rock! So proud of this little girl :)

Honoring her Veterans

Next Friday, Anna's school is honoring all the Veteran's for Veteran's Day. Anna was super excited to find out our families have veterans. She can't believe some people she know actually fought in wars to protect us and is very thankful for what they have done and can't wait to hang these stars around her school :)

Ashley Soccer

Ashley had her last soccer game a couple of weeks ago. It was cold and she did awesome!!!!

She just happened to be in the right place at the right time to "kick" in her first gal of the season. And then a fire was lit under her and this child started staling the ball, dribbling down the field like she has never done before and get this. Not only did she block a shot from the other team but she had a fast break that turned into her 2nd goal. 2 goals in one game!!!!!!! She was on fire!!!

She received her medal at the end of the game and said, "I love soccer Mommy. It's so fun. I want to score another goal now!" When I asked her how scoring a goal made her feel she sad, "Happy. I want to do it again!!!!" She was pretty bummed to hear that it was her last game and that she has to wait 5 more months to play again.

Fingers crossed she starts next season how she ended this season. She was on fire!!!

Reaction after first goal. She didn't know what to do!!!!! She was "shy" about it :)

So excited to come to us after her first goal :)
EXCITED!

This is right before her second goal.....

GOAL!!!!!!!
