Restaurant Week

This past week was restaraunt week in KC and did we take advantage of all the yummy food? You bet we did!!!! And we tried all new (to us) restaurants!!!!

We kicked off the week with a dinner at 801 Fish with the best neighbors. Rob rates this as the best meal. I rate their blackberry cobbler as amazing. Rob's chowder was also amazing.

To celebrate Rob being off work on MLK day, we got a sitter and headed to Sullivans. So so yummy. The blue cheese wedge was amazing, so was Rob's lobster bisque. YUM.

Then mid week on Wednesday we surprised Anna with a trip to the Plaza to eat at Gram and Dun over Daddy's lunch break. Anna decided to forgo the children's menu and chose from the restaurant week menu. She thought she was so fancy. Anna picked the most amazing sweet potato soup and I really liked my burnt end grilled cheese. Anna now ranks this as one of her favorite placs to eat :)

Believe it or not... Anna ate more of her burnt end mac and cheese then Daddy!!!!

Yesterday I took my grandma out to eat at Rye. We both ordered fried chicken and lemon merienge pie. YUM. We had a great time!

Then to end the week over glutney, Rob and I went to The Majestic. And had the most amazing pecan bar dessert ever made in the history of man. Yes, it was that good. Thanks Grammy and Poppy fir watching the girls!

So, so, so much fun! We have to get out more and do this more often :) As for my favorite, I think I would have to piece it together as follows:

Best salad- Blue Cheese Wedge at Sullivan

Best soup- Lobster Bisque at Sullivan AND sweet potato soup at Gram and Dun

Best Appatizer- Muchrom caps filled with beef and cheese at The Majestic

Best Sandiwch- Gram and Dun Burnt End Grilled Cheese

Best Pasta- Gram and Dun Burnt End Mac and Cheese

Best Chicken- Rye

Best Seafood- 801 Fish crabcakes and Salmon

Best Steak- Sullivan's NY Strip

Best Beer Tenderloin- The Majestic

Best Pie- Lemon Merienge at Rye

Best Fruit Dessert- Blackberry Cobbler at 801 Fish

Best Bar Dessert- Pecan Bars at The Majestic

As you can tell, I kind of liked everything I ate :)

Stuffing Stuffed Animals

Last Monday, Anna's Daisy troop went to a charity event where they stuffed stuffed animals. They recieved two stuffed animals of their choice (Anna chose white tiger) and one would be theirs and the other would go to a kid at Safe Home. The girls each wrote a note to the child recieving the stuffed animals, stuffed the animals with stuffing, put a heart in their stuffed animal, zip tied it up and velcroed it's back. Viola!!!!

They had a good time and every girl was coated in stuffed animal stuffing (and so was my car after driving 3 of the home after!)

Secret Nook

About a month ago, we discovered that we have two "secret hideouts" steaming off of the play room closet. Daddy decided to tackle this space.

He put in installation, boarded up the walls and even painted with the girls.

We are so so so excited to get the final coat of paint on, paint stuff on the white paint and get the carpet laid. Then the girls are going to use one as an American Girl bedroom and the other as a Bitty Baby/Twin bedroom. The closet between will be the main room of the house.

So so so excited!!!

I didn't get any before pictures but here they are painting this afternoon. Surprisingly, it was too horriby chaotic and messy. Yes paint was everywhere on their bodies in the end but overall they did great.

Abby watched for along time and then finally decided she would have a go at painting. An she loved it too!

Birthday Invitations

It took a lot of time (and patience) but Ashley's birthday party invitations are ready for delivery!

She had wanted to help me make them so I decided to let go of my control issues over party plannign/decorations and give her a try and let her. Being that I am usually a crafter who likes to do it my way, which is the "right" way, this was pretty hard for me. But it was so good for me and good for her. And I think they came out just great!!!!

She can't wait to deliver!

We had to send out a half done one last week so that the parents could get it on their calendars. I had no clue as to when she would finish. To my surprise she finished them quicker then I thought :)

So glad to finally be done! Now onto the part she has been just waiting for... decorations!!!!

Straight Hair for Abby...

After swimming Friday, I blow dried her hair before leaving the pool. And it got rid of her curls :(

She looked so old.

Ashley in Paris

Today as we were passing through the travel section of Costco, Ashley says, "Look mom! Paris. Just like Aunt Anne!"

See my sister is in Paris and sent us a picture of her with the Effil Tower in the background:

With that in mind Ashley says, "Take a picture of me like Aunt Anne!!!" So I did.

Too funny.....

We texted Aunt Anne this and she told Ashley she'll pick her up for dinner. Then she got all confused :)

58/59 months old

Can't believe in one month this one will be 5....

Here are the last two months of pictures since I am so behind :)

And here is what little Ash Ash is up to these days :)

*She is my little love bug, cuddler and kisser.
*She is both sensitive and whiny; I love my Ashley and her little whiny voice is cute but I can only handle it so much. We have been working with her on the fine line between using cute voice and whining. When she whines I touch my nose and don't respond.... usually the whining stops pretty quickly because she understands what it means. We started this about a week ago and it's working pretty well.
*Loves to sing- her favorite song right now is "Fight Song" and she is so animated with song it's adorable
*Best buds with both sissies. Soooo good with Abby- loves to tackle and roll on the floor with her and play mom and baby (Abby calls Ashley mom and my mommy)
*Still trying to communicate with words how she feels; when she is sad she clams up and doesn't talk. This is our one goal with her before Kindergarten.
*Her feelings are extremely hurt whether it is something someone says or does to her.
*Crashes at night. One minute she will be a hyper mess and then next minute completely asleep.
*Loves giving the "kissing hand" and has made it into a 9 step process and NEEDS it before she does anything on her own.
*Goofy but then again all my girls are goofy :)
*She loves to make up words like dolla mica and other weird words to be funny
*She is reading a lot of words and constantly surprises Rob and I with what she knows. We are not working on anything with her but she soaks up what big sissy does like a sponge. Ashley is not afraid to use phonics to spell out a word and she has such a willingness to try with no fear of being wrong. It's amazing how much she really knows.
*She is a lego and art girl. Loves to build and create
*She is a huge game girl- loves the family game, OLD MAID and Hoot Owl Hoot board game. She is always the one pulling us together for a game.
*Is a good listener at dance; is now in the 5/6 year old class
*She is really limber and flexible. Really talented at gymnastics but claims she doesn't like going because the bar "hurts" her belly. She goes anyways since it is the only activity her and Anna can do together.
*Very in tune with what is healthy. If it is she will try and eat it. But for the most part she is a typical 4 year old eater of hot dogs, chicken nuggets and mac and cheese.
*Sleeps great at night. This winter has been waking up around 7:15/7:30
*Still wearing a diaper at night. She is such a heavy sleeper I think she doesn't even realize when she has to go. I am not worried about this right now... hopefully she outgrows it in a year or two.
*Still loving swim lessons and is pretty set on doing swim team with big sis this summer. She has a ways to go but I'm sure Ashley will once again surprise me.

We love our Ash Ash!!

75 months old

Anna these days....

*Goes to bed around 7:30/8 and wakes at 6:30/7. After a busy day or school or activities it's hard for her to keep emotions in check and can fall apart with her emotions easily. Falls asleep fast once in her bed. Sleeps heavy and like a log.
*Has had a series of bad dreams since Halloween time. She shows up in our bed and most of the time wont share her dreams. Thankfully this hasn't happened since Christmas.
*Loves to dance; so animated in her dance
*Loves art; super creative with art
*Makes a big dramatic deal out of things in a positive way; "I cant believe it! I have been waiting my entire life for this."
*Starting to act more like a mom to her sisters (and it drives Ashley crazy). She feels like she has to share all her Kindergarten wisdom and can come across as a sassy little know it all even though she really has good intentions and is usually not intending to be sassy.
*Such a patient and kind sister, daughter and friend.
*LOVES anything to do with family and friends; a social little thing.
*Beginning to show a natural appreciation towards others (saying thank you is natural)
*Is a back seat driver... "Mommy it says 45. Why are you 48?"
*Worries about things that she should leave to mom/dad but I think she's doing it in an attempt to be older.
*Goofy sense of humor and not afraid to show it off.
*Reading to herself and out loud really well. Becoming more and more comfortable with sounding out words using phonics and sounds. Can read Beginner and Level One books mostly on her own. Her teacher says she is reading at the first grade level and wants to continue to work with Anna on sounding out larger words using smaller ones. This has led to some frustration at home but we are turning that corner!!
*Eats like a bird. Loves fruits, milk, pepper cheese and veggies. Eats mostly what mommy and daddy eat for dinner and lunch. She is a good eater but just doesn't eat much in quantity.
*Absolutely in LOVE with her brother Peanut. She gets in trouble often for "loving him too much" because we are afraid Peanut will bite her as he growls to tell her to stop.
*Such a good helper
*Amazing Memory
*Practicing the Kindergarten sass more and more each day, Gotta love that she gives us a fight but WOW somedays it's a little too much :) And this is only the beginning :)

Love you Anna Banana!

Basketball vs the Schiebels

Last weekend Anna got to play two of her good preschool friends, Anna and Lainey, in basketball.

It was confusing having another Anna out on the court with her but besides that she LOVED it!

So much fun seeing old friends :)
