We felt like we had put too much pressure on Anna and too much pressure on ourselves during her process. We had made it a huge deal, set aside a weekend and did "structured" training using a timer. Well folks, we have decided to just let Ashley tell us when she has to go and we are taking it from there.
Believe it or not she has gone pee pee on the potty 6 of the last 6 times she has had to go (not including during nap and overnight). Yup, she had dry panties all day.
I had started talking to Rob about how I wanted to see if she was ready to be trained this week since we have one more week until Abby is officially 6 weeks old and can go public places. So I figured while we were home bound for another week I might as well add some excitement to it. So we brought the potty back out and talked about it with Ashley last night. And during dinner she asked to go and sure enough she went not once, but twice!
She was so proud; so were we. We flushed the pee pee, sang the "we are proud of you song," did a family pee pee on the potty dance, Ashley did her tada/proud pose with her hands in the air and then Ashley got to pick out 2 m and m's. And these m and m's are like gold to her..... she will say "Mommy, I want an m and m" and we will tell her that she knows what she needs to do to get them. And sure enough she will go on the potty!
This morning we were sitting and eating breakfast and she decided she needed to go while naked. She stopped herself and went on the potty. Then she ran upstairs to get panties and when she came back down she said she had to go again. And sure enough she did. A couple hours later she was sitting on the couch in her panties and said "Mommy, I need to go pee pee" and sure enough she made it to the potty with dry panties and went. Rob and I were amazed.
She continued going pee pee with dry panties for the rest of the evening and racked in the m and m's.
When we asked her if she liked panties or diapers better she said panties. And when Rob asked her if she wanted to keep going pee pee in the potty tomorrow she said yes.
So we will take it another day and see how it goes :) Hopefully it goes as smoothly as it did today!

PS I have already decided I am getting the first floor carpets cleaned before Abby crawls so knowing that if she pees on the carpet it will be professionally cleaned soon makes it a little less stressing!
PSS Ashley has decided when she keeps going pee pee on the potty that she wants m and m's and Jake and the Neverland Pirate underwear. I am pretty sure this means she will be wearing little boy panties. It's all the same, right?
