Attention Span and Buckles

This child has a long attention span. I mean LONG!

Last week she spent well over 45 minutes trying to buckle the buckle on Anna's helmet. She worked on it while sitting in a rocking chair, sitting in my room watching me get ready, swinging in her swing and sitting in her high chair. And after 40 minutes or so of failed attempts, she finally got it buckled. Not once, but 3 times. And she is hooked on buckles!

Any time she sees a buckle she is bound and determined to get it snapped, just like her sister was and still is. And she is pretty determined to do it all by herself like her sister as well (and we are savoring the fact that she can't say "by myself" and "no, me do it" yet so we can actually help her without too much fight). And the amazing thing is she doesn't get frustrated during the process, even it if takes 20 minutes. She only gets mad when she gets it buckled and wants us to get it unbuckled since she can't unbuckle it. She is one bound and determined little lady; just like her sister.

And she is also a little monkey; I mean a BIG TIME climber. She insists on walking down the stairs the right way. And I mean walking with one hand against the wall/railing and the other holding out hand and taking one step at a time facing forward. And she does it pretty well. If she is outside she can easily walk down one or two steps by herself facing front (but it makes me super worried that she is going to fall face first into the concrete). And to make things worse, look who can climb ALL the way into her high chair all by herself (Daddy was just their spotting since we don't want her to fall back and crack her head open). Can we tell she has an older sibling who like to climb and do things all by herself?!?!?

SUCCESS and SO proud of herself! And what do we do when the climb is done.... Let's buckle!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY!

Can we tell by this post that Ashley is making me a bit nervous with all her new found independence with walking and climbing? WOW- this age wears me out!

Much Love,
Jenny
