Anna's First Swin Lesson

Anna arrived at the pool today, ready to conquer the world.

She had heard all about Ashley's swim lessons last Thursday and could not wait to show everyone how she can swim on her own (with puddle jumper floatees!!!) We arrived 10 minutes early and put our stuff down in a chair. When I looked up from putting our stuff on a seat, Anna had literally pranced 20 feet away and started her way walking down the steps into the pool, giving me her biggest smile and wave. I called her back since she was not supposed to do that :)

She watched as others finished up their lessons and then looked at me and asked where her eye goggle things were. I had forgotten them at home but she didn't care because she had spotted a wall of goggles to borrow. She pranced over there, selected her goggles and we put them on over her swim cap. My girl was ready to become the next Olympic swimmer!

Coach Lauri called her over and talked with her a little. Anna was shy but warmed up to her in no time. Once Lauri started paying attention to her, she never looked back at me. She is one of four in her class so she got around 10 minutes of swim time with coach and rocked it! The other 3 kids are her age and swimming on their own so I think it is very reassuring and encouraging to Anna.

Coach started her swimming with the "Bubble" and says she will be "bubble" certified in 1 or two sessions. She said that she hasn't had a swimmer catch on as fast as Anna in a long time and it's very refreshing. She held her hands and then let go; letting Anna swim with the floatee on her back. This child was all smiles. Even when coach dunked her 3 times she came up laughing and smiling. Even when she was doing the back float (coach was holding her head up) she was smiling. She trusted coach Angie 100%.

At the end Coach Angie said she was a "natural" and will be swimming on her own before we know it. She says what Anna did in one session usually takes 2-3 months.

Way to go Anna!!!! She can not WAIT to go back :)

Much Love,
Jenny
