Smoky Mountain Road Trip- Western Smokies Day 8

We woke up to a dry morning (but we know not to trust the weather here by now.....), ate a quick breakfast and then hopped on our bikes to bike the 11 mile Cade's Cove loop. The lop that we drove last night is closed to vehicles from 7-10 on Saturday so that bikes and pedestrians can enjoy. We made it the entire way (yes even the girls did!) and it was one of the best thing we did. But as we finished I think you can guess what was happening..... RAIN again!

Black bear!

More black bears!

It was an awesome morning complete with free ice cream for biking the entire loop!

Ice Cream CHEERS!!!

Then we hurridly packed up our tent in the rain and headed back to the visitor center and out to Newfoundland Pass and Clingmann's Dome.

The walk to Clingman's Grove was gorgeous but steep. We made it up the 1/2 mile hill to the highest point in the Smokie's just before the fog took over...

On the hike down we took a detour to step on the Appalacian Trail.

Hit up the gift shop....

Then we stopped at Newfoundland Pass where the park was designated a National Park. It had some gorgeous views as well.

After a long day of exploring, we pulled into our last overnight destination of the trip- The Christmas Tree Inn!

It was awesome. After exploring the hotel for a little, we then headed out in Pigeon Forge to Mel's Diner for dinner. YUM.

Then we returned to the Inn to meet with Singing Santa and have cookies before bedtime. It was amazing.

Christmas in July is AWESOME!

And then we said goodnight under Christmas lights.....
