Smoky Mountain Road Trip- Central Smokies Day 6

This morning we decided to hang out around the cabin and relax. Play games, read books, do laundry and just enjoy after a crazy couple first days. Oh and we stayed dry!!!!

Then in the afternoon we ventured out to the Park's main visitor center, Sugarland Visitor Center. they had a nice little museum set up displaying animals found in the region, an awesome movie on the park and stamps to stamp our National Parks Passport!

Then we walked out into the sunshine and headed on the Visitor's Center Nature Trail, which led to a beautiful waterfall not too far out. Worried that it would rain, umbrellas were at our sides at all times :)

Then we had our first BEAR sighting; a baby cub just off the Roaring Creek Motor Trail!

Then it started to sprinkle and we decided to do a 3 mile hike in the sprinkling rain (and the pouring rain) with umbrellas. So glad we did it because what it led us to was awesome!!! and also we were totally used to the rain by now.....

Grotto Falls was beautiful! We even got to walk behind it. We decided that the rain was good because we were seeing the most awesome waterfalls in their full beauty (just too bad for the mud!!)

Then we stopped along the Roaring Creek Scenic Drive to see some old residences...

And of course with all the rain... the rivers were gorgeous :)

We didn't hang out much in Gatlinburg but it was the cutest little town. Would love to come back here again!

Then we hot tubbed it and braced ourselves for the next day....
