Championship Swim Meet

This past weekend was Anna's championship swim meet. She competed in 3 individual events and the Medley Relay. The swim meet was indoors at a local high school. Anna was in complete awe of the high school and the swimming area. She did a great job in her events but was bothered by the loud starting buzzer. She would literally take her mark and then cover her ears until the sound was done and then jumped in, making her start slower. Even when doing the back stroke she managed to hide her ears in her shoulders until after the beep. With the exception of the loud beep she said she really enjoyed swim team inside :)

I worked the concession stand the entire 5 hour meet but was able to escape to see Anna swim. She has had an amazing season and we look forward to summer swim team next year and any swimming she chooses to do between then and now.

Doesn't the picture below look extremely overwhelming? I still can't believe my 5 1/2 year old competes in conditions like this. So proud of her. And notice all the people on the left of the picture? Yeah, a complete cluster trying to walk in and out to see your kids swim. And I swear it was 100 degrees in there :)

Anna's times- she got faster (more comfortable) as the meet went on :)

RACE 1- Free- 33.69 seconds (78/82) - one of her slowest times
RACE 2- Medley- she did back stroke- Her team was DQ
RACE 3- Breast- DQ she started doing free style stroke two times and then remembered she was doing breast. Her breast form was great though :)
RACE 4- Back- 38.38- one of her best times. she placed 51/63

So proud of you Anna!!!
