Last night we went to Meet the Teacher Night at Sunset Ridge Elementary. Anna already knew (and met) Mrs. Zurosky (Mrs. Z) but we got to go in to say hello and check out her room. Some last minute changes were made to the classrooms and after a late hire of a new teacher, Mrs Z's small 1/2 day Kindergarten of 11 kids were moved out of her old room that she has been in for years and into a new one. This new room is still in the same pod but it is shared with a special Ed teacher. This teacher is only at the school 3 days a week. While she is there, no special ed kids will be in Anna's room with that teacher; the teacher will be out of the room with the kids in the other rooms. This sharing of a room makes for a rather small classroom; not at all what I had in mind. But to Anna it is all that and a piece of cake. She wouldn't care if Kindergarten was in a cardboard box so is so ready and excited. I just put all my hope and trust in that teacher that no matter where they learn, she will do her best teaching. And if interruptions do occur from the special ed teacher, I hope they get taken care of quickly.
But back to Anna.... Anna was so excited; SO excited! She gave Mrs. Z some hugs, sat in her desk, organized and dropped off some supplies, walked us around the school to find the library, gym, cafeteria, art and music room and we finished the evening with pizza dinner in the cafeteria. What a great time; I think it's going to be a great year!!!!
PS She wakes up this morning complaining about why she couldn't go to school this morning!!!!
