Anna goes to the Dentist

Today we all went with Anna to her first dentist appointment. she did great!

As we were driving there she was super excited to see the dentist to get her Belle toothbrush. She told me in the car that she was going to "be very brave." And she was.

When the dentist called us back we got a tour of the place, met a service dog and Anna got to make her first visit hand print (in orange paint) that hang on a ceiling tile in their office. She was stoked! Then we went to get x-rays of her teeth. She couldn't wait to see pictures of her teeth. The technician couldn't believe how fidgety she was so called for back up. But when it came time to take pictures Anna was 110% cooperative and according to the technician gave the dentist 2 of the best x rays she has seen a 3 year old give. During this time Ashley was literally wrestling with a hug puppy dog stuffed animal in the hallway and Abby was of course sleeping!

After the x-rays we went in another room where Anna got to climb into the fancy dentist chair. She looked at me, smiled a huge smile and said, "I'm not scared. I'm not going to be scared at all." Following right along side of her, Ashley climbed up in the dentist chair to be with her (and to watch the movie playing above their heads!) When the technician cleaned her teeth, Anna was great. She opened her mouth big and wide before being asked too and thought the polisher tickled her teeth and would giggle every time it touched her teeth. Then they flossed and Anna handled it like a champ. We found out that Anna has deep groves like her momma and teeth that touch (so we need to floss at home!) After she was done, she went to get the dentist and during this time Anna asked why they didn't do anything more to her teeth.... did she think they were going to pull them out?

Anyway the dentist came in, counted her teeth and looked at them and said she had beautiful teeth!

And then the part that Anna had been waiting for since Ashley went to the dentist a couple weeks ago... the Belle toothbrush. Drum roll please.... they only had Tiana and Cinderella. Complete disappointment spread across her face (even though I warned her they might not have Belle) so I asked them if they happened to have Belle somewhere in the drawer. The technician said she didn't know who Belle was but would fund out and get one for Anna even if she has to go in the back room. She said Anna deserved the tooth brush she wanted because she did such an amazing job for her first visit. Needless to say, the technician made Anna's day with not just any Belle toothbrush but a purple Belle toothbrush, a coin to use in a coin machine to get a toy, new tooth paste, floss, chapstick and a hot chocolate chip cookie (one for Ashley too). And on our way out she gave Anna another toothbrush- an electric princess toothbrush with Aerial, Cinderella and Belle on it.  She looked at it, jumped up and down and said "I get one that goes buzzzzzzzz... just like Grammy and Poppy's!" They really do give you quite a load of swag when you visit but hey, both of my girls LOVE the dentist so I can't complain.

Much Love,
Jenny

PS Fingers crossed that Ashley still loves it next month when she goes in for her root canal! I hope they give her an electric toothbrush too :) She's hoping to get the toothbrush that goes "buzzzzz too!"
