RMNP- Lily Lake

On Thursday (the second to last day of our trip) we took it easy.

We started the morning with a Junior Ranger scavenger hunt of Lily Lake. What was supposed to be a flat 1 mile paved loop around a lake turned into a ridge climb that was around 1.4 miles.

Looking at the map, I asked the girls if they wanted to just walk around the lake or hike the ridge of a surrounding mountain. I should have been surprised that they chose the mountain path :)

In Anna's Junior Ranger activity bok she was to complete a scavenger hunt of Lily Lake. So pen in hand, we hunted and found everything!

Once again, the two older girls were overly amused by the chipmunks on the trail, loved finiding hideouts in the rocks, loved drawing in the dirt path, learned to make a trail marker and jumped at every opportunity to climb a boulder. Abby on the other hand just wanted to ride on mommy's back and eat, eat and eat.

That is once thing I haven't mentioned; these girls LOVE snacking on hikes! Literally every 30 minutes someone would ask for a snack, alternating with water every 15 minutes. They love their snacks!!!

The hike up on the ridge and around the lake was gorgeous. We did walk through a couple "clouds" of bugs but nothing too bad. Oh, we also saw a beaver in the water which was cool!!! So pretty.

C
uddles with their lovies they HAD to bring on this trail... most the time they were in Daddy's pocket!

Never have Rob and I had our picture taken more on a family vacation. EVERY girl had to take at least 2 pictures of us with the fancy camera at most spots!

Abby throwing a fit because she did not want to get on Daddys back AND that her shoes were dirty and filled with dirt....

She got happy when Daddy held her instead :)
