Scraps KC

This morning we went to volunteer downtown with Scraps KC. We were at the downtown cathedral sorting and cleaning old school supplies to give to low income families in the greater KC area for back to school. We married glue, wipe down rules and scissors and spent most of our time testing markers to see which ones were still good and sorting them by color. The girls had a blast! They didn't even realize until I told them that half the people who were helping out were homeless who came to help for a simple lunch after. It was real eye opening for the girls to see that homeless people look just like us and that we can work together for a greater good.

After the girls were getting pretty bored with drawing the same lines to test the markers (the first picture), I recommended to them that they draw a picture while testing the marker...

Abby made a bug and Anna did a house and sun. So cute!

Way to go girls!!!!
