Irish Festival

We continued our Labor Day weekend with a Sunday afternoon and evening at the Irish Festival. We just have so much fun there. We played in the childrens area, made crafts, participated in a HUGE pinata, watched stone lion puppets, watched bagpipers, got tattoos and our faces painted, ate a huge corn dog, got a special drink, listen and danced our bon bons off to some great Irish music and had fun with Grama, Papa and the Hortons. It was a gorgeous day to hang out downtown!

While our favorite band, We Banjo 3, was playing, they said they would be watching the entire show and give a free t-shirt to the best dancer in the crowd. Determined to be the best dancer, Ashley danced her heart out. I mean she jigged and jigged that little body to exhaustion. By a mistake I stepped in front of her and she says, "Mommy move!!!! You are blocking me from them. They won't see me dance and I won't win!!!!" She was constantly asking me if she thought she'd win and when she'd get the t-shirt. She even told me, "If Ms. Marilyn was here and saw her dancing she would probably move her up to the next troop she would be so impressed :)" Everyone around us thought she was just adorable. It was priceless.

Papa, wanting to make all her dreams come true, bought her a t-shirt and planned to present it to her after the concert; telling her she won best dancer. So after the show we lined up to meet the band and while we were waiting, Papa sneaked up and asked the band to give Ashley the t-shirt saying she was the winner. When Ashley went up there and they awarded her with the t-shirt it was like she had won a million bucks! "Mommy, they really saw me dancing! I can't, can't, Can't believe I won! Best day ever!!!!" She then got signatures on the back of the t-shirt and hasn't taken it off since.

When asking the girls there favorite thing about the day, Abby said everything, Ashley's obviously was "winning" the t-shirt and said her favorite part was watching sissy win the dance contest. LOVE this.

Can't wait for next year :)

The lady went on and on at the craft table about how Ashley was such a talented artist and thinks she should enter contests around the area. I think this day really boasted Ashley's self esteem :)

Pinata and puppets!

First face painting experience wore her out; or she thinks Irish music is soothing
