Door County Wisconsin- Day 1 (Saturday)

We decided to split the drive up to Door County Wisconsin into 2 days- 6 hours each day- because quite frankly we didn't know how the girls and we would be. We had just gotten back 6 days beforehand from driving home 15 hours in one day from Florida. And we didn't want to risk it.

Well the drive went great. We stayed the night in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. And we were in Door County by 2 the next day :) And since we had the entire afternoon and evening to us we took full advantage. We stopped by the visitor center in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. We then went next door to grab a local beer to celebrate vacation! 

Then we headed to a cheese tasting place- Wisconsin Cheese Masters. The cheese was AWESOME and the adults picked out a cube and so did the kids. I mostly blame the cheese for my 7 pound weight gain :)

After eating lots of cheese we then took full advantage of the day and went to pick cherries on the first day of cherry picking at a place called Zettel Farms. It was awesome. We literally got a bucket of cherries (9-10 lbs) for $12. Serious????? So needless to say we ate lots of cherries that week following :)

After cherry picking we headed to our town of Jacksonport. Before checking into the square rigger lodge we stopped by Mikes Pub and Tavern and ate outside. It was so nice to eat outside and be in need of a sweat shirt :) We also took full advantage of the beautiful flowers blooming next door for some photos.

Then we checked in for the night. The cabin was so-so. Anna's quote was the best; she had entered the cabin first and yelled in excitement, "It has a refrigerator!!!!!!!!!" It had everything we needed but was super out of date but fine. And the water tasted like metal. But the location of the cabin was amazing. 50 feet from the beach and lake front; we had the best view. I could have sat outside the entire week and just watched the lake it was that nice. And we were within 25 feet of a swing/play set that the girls took full advantage of.

We are in WISCONSIN!!!!!!!!!!!

No naps = early bedtime for all the kiddos and Mommy and Daddy enjoyed adult time in the backyard with some of our favorite things- beer, cheese and cherries! Yes... there is a theme to the week :) Seriously.... can I go back?
