Sharing Rooms
3 weeks ago the girls underwent the transition of sharing bedrooms.
AND. IT. HAS. BEEN. GREAT! (knock on wood!)
We really didn't know what to expect except that I know a lot of people who have had success with sharing bedrooms so I went into it on a very hopeful and positive note. The first night went better then expected. After we said good night, Rob and I ran into our room and turned the monitor on. No noise. Nothing. Not one peep. No fun! We thought we'd be ease dropping on some serious gossip; but then again Anna is pretty serious about her sleep.
The next day naps were a success but the following day they were a disaster. Neither girl slept and it was grueling. Luckily that hasn't been the case since. Ashley goes down first, then Anna. Ashley always sleeps and when Anna doesn't she quietly leaves her room through the bathroom to have quiet time downstairs.
We really haven't over heard much gossip. There has only been one night where the girls got up and played together which was cut short by big, mean mama. I don't think they will do that again for some time.....
All in all I think we were pretty successful in giving each girl their own space and keeping some of the same things from their old individual rooms the same.
The view from Ashley's bed (looks just like Anna's old room with the furniture/photos rearranged and the pink rug)
The view from Anna's bed. When Anna first got into her bed she said, "WOW, this looks like Ashley's room, but with purple walls!!!" We did not move the toddler bed in. She will eventually get a twin bed once she is dry through the night. Then at that point Rob is going to build bunk bed- exciting!!!
These next 4 pictures take you on a counter clockwise tour of the room.
And the most important thing; they love it! They call it "our" room instead of Anna's room and we were fearful of how Ashley would react to moving into Anna's room. But she has loved it. The first week was hilarious in that she'd forget that she was in the purple room now and would run into her room ready for bed or nap and then turn around, give us the goofiest look and say, "Oops!!! Crazy Ashley! This is butt-upsies (Abby) room!" And then she'd run into the purple room and plop onto her bed!
Much Love,
Jenny
