The Ride Home From Colorado
So our journey home began around 1 am Monday morning. Rob, Abby and I headed to Denver where we stayed overnight at a hotel. Rob headed back to Breckenridge the next morning to pick up the girls. We were very worried that they would have a hard time leaving everyone but Rob said when he pulled up to the house they were outside and ready to go. I guess they told Rob that they just wanted to see and be with Mommy and Baby Abby. When he got there he had to pack up our stuff, load the car and drive back to Denver. I guess every time he went to load the car the girls would try and hop into their car seats. They just really wanted to see Baby Abby.
When they pulled up to our hotel they were all smiles. They ohhhed and awwwed over Abby and told her how happy they were that she was better. Anna told me that she had woken up in the middle of the night and when Grammy told her where we were she was very confused and was upset that "we didn't say goodbye." But she told me she understood that Abby was sick and we had to leave. And then she went back to hugging and kissing her sister. After a bit to eat we drove 4 hours to Goodland Kansas where we stayed overnight at a hotel.
The girls loved the hotel. Wanting to make the rest of the week as special as we could to make up for leaving Colorado, we let the girls run through the hallway (don't worry no one was there when we checked in), jump on the beds, eat order in pizza in bed (it is something Anna has been asking to do for a long time now), snuggle all together in one of the beds, fill up the ice buckets with the ice machine, play with the hotel phone, read the Bible and Yellow Pages and make up stories about Gaston becoming a fairy, gave Abby a bath, all 5 of us sleep in the same room (something that Anna has also wanted to do) eat fruit loops in the morning and watch morning cartoons. They had a blast. Ashley literally ran back and forth through the hotel room yelling, "This is awesome" over and over for at least 15 minutes.
Then the next day we drove the rest of the way home. It took us about 6 hours to get home. And they were so excited to be home :)
Much Love,
Jenny
