RMNP- Alluvial Fan
Monday (3rd day), we ventured out early to head to the top of the park to the Alpine Visitor Center with many stops along the way.
Our first stop was the Alluvial Fan. Within minutes of arriving Ashley had some major poop in the woods, we lost Ashley's hiking stick which resulted in a sad, sad Ashley and which was quickly found once mommy backtracked and we saw the most beautiful site.
Instantly the girls decided they wanted to walk across the water to get to the other side. We had left our water shoes in the car so we attempted it barefoot but it was just too cold and hard to do without water shoes. So the girls keep their goal of getting to the other side and decided that we would boulder climb our way up to the top and cross up there......
So... boulder climbing turned into backwoods hiking over fallen down trees and branches. These little girls were bound and determined to find a way across the river without getting their shoes wet. We never did make it across because there wasn't a way...
Next time we will have to bring our water shoes to this stop; we never made it across...... but we did make it high.. and I mean high up on the falls!
Abby loved throwing rocks into the lake. Everyone enjoyed doing "fanny slides" on the way down :) Ashley had the muddiest bottom ever (and she never knew it) and this trip gave us many boo boo's but I think we are getting tougher... no band aids were used!
My finger is pointing to just how high we bouldered up.... Crazy high...
