The two pictures above pretty much sums up most of our drive (I think we totaled around 19 hours of drive time with construction). Its a good thing that these kids LOVE books! We watched 30 minutes of Strawberry Shortcake once on the way out and resorted to her lots more on the way home because of the longer drive and the multiple unexpected runs into construction we had. But even with that, they still wanted to read tons on the way home instead of watch tv. We also did family cheers, listened to music, sang some songs, listened to books on tape, played with stickers, played with babies, fed their babies, put their babies to sleep, ate snacks, talked and talked. But for the most part they want to read and read. Good thing I let them pack 30 books!
The following is possibly my most favorite quote of the trip.....
Anna: "What do I smell?:
Us: No answer
Anna: "Yucky daddy. Daddy tootered."
Sure enough, he had. And the she would ask for the windows to come down because they smelt horrible!
And get this, the one time that he denied it (he really hadn't) we tried to tell her it was outside that was smelling she thought we were bogus. She thought we were crazy and kept asking to see outside and kept saying, "No, Daddy tootered."
