Rob's Birthday Get Away

This past weekend Rob turned 40. And to celebrate we took a Daddy/Mommy trip and hit the Katy Trail in Central MO.

While the girls were loved on all weekend by Grammy and Poppy, we had the perfect weekend together; almost felt like an anniversary trip :)

The first day we got to the campsite (Cooper Landing about 20 minutes south of Columbia) just after noon. We ate an amazing Thai lunch from a food truck located permanently at the campsite and then hit the Katy Trail. We biked 14.5 miles east past Harrisburg (we saw the entire town preparing for the pumpkin festival the next day) to Claysville and then back 14.5 miles to the campsite. Mile 20-24 were pretty hard on me but other then that I did great! Apparently when we head west on the trail it inclines 1 foot per mile; and I could tell :)

Once back at the campsite we took a rest and then headed to have beers, eat white chicken chili the campsite made in the general store and listen to live music until 9. Then we went back to the tent and passed out.

The next morning we woke up to a foggy mess. So foggy we couldn't even see the Missouri River 10 feet away from us. So we took it slow until the flog faded (around 9) and ate a nice omelet and bacon omelette from the general store at the campsite and sat by the fire. It was cold!

Then we biked 15 miles west to Rochefort, MO and had lunch and drinks at a winery. SOOOOO good. I was even impressed by their wine which was a surprise! When we biked the 15 miles east (downhill.....) and then packed up our campsite to head to the bed and breakfast in Rochefort.

We were originally supposed to stay 2 nights at the bed and breakfast but apparently I booked the room for Sat/Sun instead of Fri/Sat. But it all worked out in the end and when we got there I took a bath hotter then a hot tub and my muscles were all good. Then we ate a 3 course meal with wine pairings at the bed and breakfast (so super yummy) and then we were asleep by 9:15.

And slept AMAZING!

After a serious game of chess in the "parlor" we ate breakfast at 9 and had a yummy omelet and yogurt. Then we hit the trails! We biked around 7 miles west and due to time turned around and biked back into town to eat. We ate at a cute and yummy place called Abigail's and had the best tortellini dish in my life. Then we biked around the small town, packed up and headed home.

It was such a good weekend. Over 70 miles biked and so much fun with my man!
