Despite the heat, the girls did great! Their times were slower then the week prior but that didn't seem to deter them from enjoying the meet!
Ashley improved tremendously in that she did warm ups with the team, jumped from the side of the block into the pool on the buzzer in each event and even stepped in and subbed for a girl in the free relay. We were so proud of her for listening to the coach and stepping up. She was a trooper and really had fun! She swam freestyle, backstroke and free relay.
Anna had a great meet with some tiring events! She swam butterfly, breast, free relay, medley relay and the IM (individual medley). For the first time ever she completed the butterfly without being disqualified and earned herself a 6th place ribbon! She was super proud of herself on that. And for her first time on the IM she did great! It took her around 2 1/2 minutes to complete and the event consisted of her swimming 100 m (1 lap each of 25 m of butterfly, back, breast and free). Only three kids did this event at the meet. Anna was disqualified on her initial jump into the pool transitioning into butterfly and her arms in the breast stroke went to her hips. I seriously don't know how she did it. There is no way I could partake in that event! Super proud of her self but super bummed to come in last and be disqualified, after much debate she really hopes coach lets her swim it again :)
