Christmas Morning
Wow.
What a morning. I love Christmas.
I have the most wonderful memories of Christmas growing up. A day spent surrounded by family, good food, gifts and laughter. I am so blessed to be able to give my children a happy Christmas; so blessed.
Anna woke up ready to go at 5:55 (and that meant we were awake too since she cuddled between us and couldn't stop fidgeting and talking) and had to wait in bed until Ashley finally woke up at 8:05. We did have a minor bump in the morning when Abby woke up at 7:30 in her vomit. Yup, second Christmas in a row for Abby to be sick and third Christmas in a row for one of our kids to be sick. It never fails....
But needless to say, once we got downstairs at around 8:15 the girls had the Christmas of their dreams! Santa did not disappoint. Anna got an American Girl Bitty Baby double stroller and the boy Bitty Twin to go with the girl one she got for her birthday. Santa gave Ashley her dream gift, Snow Glow Elsa. He also gave her a wooden high chair and pretend food to feed her babies. And lastly, Santa gave Abby a rocking crib with a Cabbage Patch Kid. They were in their glory :)
Grammy and Poppy had arrived just in time to see the girls walk down the stairs and see all the gifts under the tree and they stayed until around 1, enjoying a nice Christmas morning and brunch together.
We had a mini breakfast of povitica bread and fruit and got to opening the family gifts. Abby enjoyed ever minute of the gift opening (which made me happy at my last minute decision to wrap diapers, forks, wipes and anything else I needed to get her :)) She didn't care; she just wanted to open :) We think Ashley inherited Rob's need to try on/play with every gift her gets so it was pretty hard to move pass the Frozen Memory game that was in the stocking but once we did she didn't want to stop opening the gifts. And as for Anna, she had this Christmas thing down. She remembered what we had done the prior year and was leading up through the present opening. We had a ball!
My favorite parts of the morning (even though the entire thing was fabulous!) were
1. Watching Ashley run around the room singing and dancing to Snow Glow Elsa right when she saw her under the tree
2. Abby opening all the gifts like a crazy kid and then being so excited to open her electric toothbrush
3. Anna opening (and being in complete shock) the American Girl doll that was mine when I was a kid. All day (and the next) Anna would give me the biggest smile and say, "Mommy this is the bestest gift ever!" And then would go on to tell me she wants 1,000 American Girl dolls :) haha- keep dreaming kid- that's $120,000 :)
4. Watching the girls reaction to opening the Disney World box. Yes, we are going on a disney cruise and to disney world in Feb :)
5. Watching the girls sing Happy Birthday to Jesus around the Advent wreath and then singing Stable Warm and Dry
6. Eating my homemade spinach, feta and mushroom quiche and homemade cheese danish. Yum.
7. Watching Grammy and Poppy try to assemble Mouse Trap
8. Watching my two Elsa's sing and preform into their new microphone stands and kareoke machine
9. Opening the gifts the girls made us at preschool
We wrapped up the morning, said goodbye to Grammy and Poppy and then headed to my parents house for Christmas afternoon and dinner :)
One last time calling Grama to see if she really did get run over by a reindeer (bottom right)
