The night before Rob started experiencing chest pains on the side of his heart. They continued in the morning and had us worried. So we detoured and at 8 am instead of heading to what would be paradise, we headed to the ER. an EKG, blood test and 4 hours later it was confirmed that nothing major was the matter so we headed back to paradise.(We have since seen two doctors here in the states and have confirmed that nothing is wrong- PHEW!) Kind of a bummer to be at the ER in Aruba but luckily it was a clean and nice ER; and it put our worries aside to enjoy the last 30 hours of our trip :)
The Marriott Renaissance was amazing. We hope to someday get back here to simply rest and relax our days away....
Our first stop- the pools, drinks and lunch!
Second stop- the lagoon on the property....
Dushi means sweetheart on Papliamento (Arubas native language).
And then we headed to the resorts private island that is only accessible to guests via a speedboat.
Aruba's cruise port....
Our speedboat taxi
The private island- heaven on earth.....
While waiting for our taxi to take us back to the resort we snuck in doing the last 10 minutes to get a sneak peek of the flamingos (they are on the adult side of the island and kids are invited to see them from 9-10 every morning). Since no one was there when we were leaving we snuck in. And it was amazing.
Ashley's favorite animal is the flamingo and she was in heaven. a flamingo "kissed" her on the neck 2 times! So fun!!!!
After observing them for a short time we all came to the conclusion that these may be the weirdest animals we have ever seen!!! There were 6 of them, with one alpha male who really looked out for the pack. Every couple of minutes they would stop in the path and do a synchronized show os loud barks, head turns right and left, head into their feathers and then fanning their feather. It was so fun to watch.
I am glad we stopped in before leaving because the girls got over their fears and were able to completely enjoy them the next morning (well maybe not Abby!!!!)
Cruise ships passed us on our walk back..... yup- we need to go on another one of these soon! So huge!!!!
After we cleaned up we headed out to the Marriotts landing full of shops and places to eat. We had yummy pizza, shopped for souvenirs while waiting for our food, listened and dance to local music and finished our last night with ice cream. We love you Aruba.
They thought they looked like ice cream cones in the second pic... so they all 3 had to do it....
Forgot to mention the free shell necklace we got from the place we got our hair braided. So we can always hear the ocean....
And as promised.... late night TV before bed...... We don't want vacation to ever end
