Halloween #2: BATS
After naps we went to Daddy work to trick or treat and do a craft. We had so much fun. Since Anna is trying to be something different for every party since she wants to be EVERYTHING this halloween, she went as.....
Trying out our candy-- yum!
BELLE! And yes, she wore the wig for the first hour!
Ashley stuck with her favorite, "white" and even kept the headband on all the time.
We had a blast and just LOVE visiting Daddy at work!
Trick or Treat. We even saw Bugs Bunny and gave him a high five. No hugs... just a high five.
Here we are making our crafts! Frankenstein and witch magnets and a door knob sign
Trying out our candy-- yum!
And we had even more of a blast after dinner when we got to sort and eat 3 pieces of candy! Woooo-hooooo!
Love,
Anna and Ashley
Halloween #1
This morning we had our first Halloween event and had a blast! We dressed up as Snow White (Ashley) and Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (Anna) and headed to a nearby store called the Mommyshop. They were having a Halloween event from 10-12 this morning. Anna has only seen Dorothy in a book that we have, so mommy was shocked when she decided to dress as her this morning. But she loved being Dorothy!!!! Ashley on the other hand would push, scream and kick if we tried to get her in anything BUT Snow White. She loves her "white."
We had a blast. One of the 3 books they read was The Five Little Pumpkins and it's our all time favorite. Anna knows all the words and was reading really loudly with the "Fairy Nice Witch" who read the story. We had a super yummy Halloween cupcake and juice and then got to trick or treat around the store. We got all sorts of treats and we got to finishes the morning with a second story time and coloring. And the treat we decided to eat on the way home..... lollipops! We love them!
On the way home we stopped at Gigi's to show off our costumes and all our goodies. She thought we were adorable!
We kept our costumes on up until lunch and had a dance party! Anna had the BEST twirl skirt!
We also did some puzzles together. Anna does such a great job helping Ashley. I really think preschool is helping her to become an even better big sister (if possible!)
We love Halloween and can't wait for after nap to go to Daddy's work for trick or treating where Anna is going to be something else!
EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Toto too :)

Necklace
I made this necklace at preschool yesterday all by myself. I was wearing it when mommy picked me up and kept it on all the way up until bath time. I had told mommy that you don't go night night with the necklace on so I never put it back on after my nap.
I just love it.
Love,
Anna
I just love it.
Love,
Anna
I wonder if any boys had a crush on me when I was 3?!?!
I doubt it....
But anyway, check this out. Hank's All About Him page featuring ANNA!
Yes, I'll zoom in it a bit since it's just too awesome....
I just so wish I could spy on them to see if they really do play together. I knew he had written these things about my little banana but honestly it melted my heart to see it tonight at Back to School night.
Much Love,
Jenny

Back to School Night
Tonight was back to school night and I got to bring mommy, daddy and Ashley to school with me. And it was dark when we got there!!!! I thought going to school at night time was so funny.
When we got there I introduced them to one of my teachers Mrs. Wozniak (apparently Mrs. Shorgel was not feeling good). I gave Mrs. W a huge hug and since we were the first ones there we got to walk around and see all my artwork before anyone else got there. Mrs. Wozniak called me thorough again and said I just LOVE all the art projects we do. I smiled as I showed mommy and daddy all my hard work. And the best part of it? I got to take every piece of artwork home! Mommy says we will hang it in my bedroom tomorrow (so excited!)
Here are all my art projects
Here is a picture of my class picture
We even got to read the class book- All about Us. Here I am reading each page with Daddy
I just love my school and didn't want to leave. We went and saw Kate's room with her and then went and got some snacks. After snacks I told mommy I didn't want to leave school so we went back and played in my room with one of my favorite toys- pipe cleaners and a strainer! Ashley and I even read some books on the couch.
Ashley's favorite thing BY FAR about my classroom was the....
She was in there for quite some time (before mommy and daddy lost her for a couple of minutes amongst the crowd. They found her in the hallway just standing there with a pout face on. Poor thing. Mommy and Daddy thought the other one had her and felt just terrible!) she loved wiping and getting on and off the "baby" toilet.
And washing out hands was cool too! Such an awesome small sink and we can reach everything by ourselves!
I can't wait to bring mommy and daddy back someday soon!
Love,
Anna

Articulation
Around 1 1/2 weeks ago, we went to the Blue Valley Early Childhood Education Building and had Anna tested on "typical" early childhood developmental skills (motor skills, language, articulation, physical skills, knowledge of shapes, numbers, etc). I decided to do the testing since I had some worries about Anna's current level of articulation and Ashley's Parent As Teacher led me in this direction for Anna.
When we got the test results back in the mail, she had come back age appropriate or beyond for every skill but articulation. This made me feel good that my instinct for the past year had been right concerning her articulation. I had been having concerns for quite some time (since she started talking) about her articulation. As her parent I have always been able to understand most of what she says, but not all. As for others I would say they have always been able to understand around 50/50; if that. I had always told myself that if these issues are still around at age 3 (at this age a stranger should understand 100% of what they say) that I would seek the help of a professional since I have 0% background or exposure to speech therapy. So when we saw that the area of articulation needed further testing, I was relieved to see that I wasn't being an overachieving parent and that there really IS something to look into and that someone who knows about speech therapy is available and willing to help me through Blue Valley. I tell you what; a mother's instinct is amazing (and so is Blue Valley. Sorry had to plug my alma mater!)
I know that even if we don't forego the further testing and possible speech therapy that she will outgrow her articulation issues with time. And I know they issues really aren't that bad. But as a parent I believe it is every bit my responsibility to help my child grow into a self confident and self respecting individual. I would hate for this slight articulation issue to cause her to lose any self esteem; since I believe that there is nothing more vital to raising children then providing them every chance to increase their self confidence and esteem. I just don't want other people to ask her "huh" or "what are you saying" or "I can't understand" or "say it again Anna" much longer. If she hears this too much, she may think something is wrong with her and that would break me.
I was not the least bit surprised or upset with the test results... I was relieved. Relieved that I am realistic in and "in touch" with how I view my child's development as a 3 year old. I was also proud of myself for following my gut instinct and getting the test done. I am also proud of my ability to acknowledge the areas she excels at and also the areas she may need assistance in; and when the time comes (age 3), getting her the proper assistance.
So, needless to say I am ready to get the ball rolling on the next step. We go Monday morning to a session with the speech therapist for Blue Valley Early Childhood Education where she will determine the steps after that. She told me on the phone that after meeting with Anna for that short time a week ago that she thinks the next steps will probably be speech therapy with her once a week, for 30 minutes, with take home homework. I can not wait to start seeing results. I can't wait for my baby girl to no longer get discouraged or upset because people (sometimes even us) don't understand some of what she says. I can't wait to see her grow into a more confident little lady.
Wish us luck!
