Ashley's Ear

Two Tuesdays ago, Ashley woke up with a bloddly ear and blood on her pillow.

What we thought was a burst pimple mixed with swimmers ear turned out to be something else. So the day after we went to the care clinic Ashley had a low grade fever all day and bloody ooze was still coming out of her ear.

Fearful that the emds weren't working we got into her doctor that evening to have her take a look at it. Needless to say the doctor couldn't see into the ear canal there was so much infection and blood.

She disagnosed Ashley with a ruptured eardrum (even though she couldn't comfirm it) and put her on amoxicillan. Lucky for us the next morning it was so much better and the fevers were gone!

Earier this week (a week after it had all happened) we went back to get it checked by her doctor. Her doctor had originaly told us to wait 3 weeks before coming back but this little girl was wanting to swim!!!!! And I am glad we went back.

The doctor looked at her ear twice. The first time she saw a teeny, tiny hole in her ear drum and the second time she saw nothing. She told us that Ashley has no limitations and she is allowed to swim; she just wouldn't reccommend swimming in a dirty lake. To be on the safe side, the doctor reccommended wax ear plugs and a swim cap for when she is swimming.

This made her day (and mine!) Turns out taking the yucky medicine (it was a struggle the first 2 or 3 days to get her to take it) paid off :)

Rainbow Playsystems

A week ago we met up with Anna's Kindergarten class at Rainbow playsystems. So much fun!!!!

Shopping with Kate and Addi

After the last day of basketball camp, we went out to eat with Addi, Kate and Uncle Todd at Chick-fil-a. Then it was a girls shopping afternoon with mommy- party city, michaels, justice, five below.... and these 5 know how to shop!

Olathe South Basketball Camp

Last week Anna joined cousin Kate and her best friend Addi at the Olathe South Girls Basketball Camp. She was there from 10:15-11:30 each day and had an absolute blast!!!

Anna was in the first graders group, alongside 7 other first graders. She improved so much over the week in dribbling, passing and shooting. She is getting to be a pretty good basketball player :) She even won the ball handling drill for her group several times :) She loved her coach, new friends, doing a camp with her cousin and learning more about basketball. Oh and she LOVED getting the camp shirt with all the coaches and friends signatures on the back.

At the end of the week she asked if she can keep doing this camp. Looks like we will sign up again next year. So much fun!

Ball handling competition- the winners from each small group got to play each other in front of the large group. Anna made it to this point but never won the large group; maybe next year :)
Busy crafting while sissy shots some hoops!
Signatures!!!!

Update on Ashley's Ear

Last night we went back to Ashley's doctor to get her ear checked out.

She checked her ear 2 times; the first time she checked it she saw a teeny tiny hole in her ear drum and the second time, nothing. The doctor said she has no sign of swimmers ear and to stop the drops. She also said Ashley really doesn't have any restrictions but she would advise against swimming in a dirty lake. As for swim team and pool swimming she says she would be fine but to safe guard the ear she would use ear plugs and a swim cap.

So later that night, excited that she was okayed to do swim team, she tried on the wax ear plugs and swim cap and took a bath. It was a success!!!!

So relieved this ear drama is getting better; we will go back for another check up in a month. Until then we swim with ear plugs :)

Fun in the Sprouts Check Out Lane!

These two are so goofy...
