Weekend at Grammy and Poppy's House

This past weekend was spent at Grammy and Poppy's house. We had so much fun and did so much. We ate tons of good food, played in the playroom, throw rocks in the lake, chased butterflies and birds, played in the sandbox, feed fish at a nearby lake, played with cousin Henry and Frances and attended church and the Trolley Run. We just love Grammy and Poppy's backyard so any minute we got to spend out there was awesome!

Ashley was sleeping during the time mommy had the camera so next time we will get pics of Ashley :)

Forks and Corks

This past Thursday Rob and I went to Forks and Corks, a fundraiser benefiting Harvesters. I had always wanted to go and was super stoked to attend. When we got to Bartle Hall Rob was in turbo mode, leaving me in the dust! He was super excited to try all the food and drinks in the room and I had to calm him down telling him we had 3 hours to do so! There were about 50 different restaurants sampling food and probably 20 different wine and beer places sampling drinks. It was pretty much a happy hour on crack! Which is pretty much my type of party; sampling tons of dishes opposed to eating one. Our favorite foods was from Chaz's on the Plaza (scallops), Andres chocolate (assorted chocolate; we tried probably over 20 pieces!), The Drop (steak on a cracker), goat cheese spread from a place I don't remember and chicken on a bone from US Foods. YUM YUM YUM! Oh and all the sushi from 4 different places too. YUM! We had a super fun time and decided to make it an annual thing. Oh and we left STUFFED to the max!

We clean up nice! And someday soon I am going to get that mop of hair chopped off; it's just me being lazy!

Take Your Child To Work Day

This past Thursday was Take Your Child To Work Day and we all got to go eat lunch with Daddy at his work. When we got their lunch wasn't ready so we got to see his desk and play. We played with the marker board and markers, his swirly chair, his calculator and with the big bouncy balls all around his office. Daddy has a really cool job; I always thought he went to work to make money but we didn't see him making the money. Instead we saw a super cool swirly chair and lots of balls to play with; AWESOME!

As you can tell we were very excited to be at Daddy's work and made it pretty hard for mommy to get a good picture. But all three of these make her laugh! We can't wait until we are big so we can spend the entire morning with daddy!

Playing Outside

We love when it's nice out because that means we get to play outside in Grama and Papa's backyard!

Anna has fallen in love with the fact that she can open and close their doors with no help and can get out to the outside patio and backyard pretty easily. We are working on asking an adult if it is okay to go outside but sometimes she gets so excited that she forgets to ask and gets in trouble.

I mean when I say these girls like to be outside, I am not kidding!

Besides wanting to be on Grama and Papa's swing every minute of every day, they also love the water table we brougth from our house, washing babies and riding bikes.

Ashley loves the Jeep and is so cute to watch push the button and ride all by herself.
Anna is getting better and better at riding her bike with no pedals. Practice make perfect, even in the backyard!

Jenny

PS It is nice the days we get outside. Anna and Ashley are so worn out that they easily take at least a two hour nap!

Attention Span and Buckles

This child has a long attention span. I mean LONG!

Last week she spent well over 45 minutes trying to buckle the buckle on Anna's helmet. She worked on it while sitting in a rocking chair, sitting in my room watching me get ready, swinging in her swing and sitting in her high chair. And after 40 minutes or so of failed attempts, she finally got it buckled. Not once, but 3 times. And she is hooked on buckles!

Any time she sees a buckle she is bound and determined to get it snapped, just like her sister was and still is. And she is pretty determined to do it all by herself like her sister as well (and we are savoring the fact that she can't say "by myself" and "no, me do it" yet so we can actually help her without too much fight). And the amazing thing is she doesn't get frustrated during the process, even it if takes 20 minutes. She only gets mad when she gets it buckled and wants us to get it unbuckled since she can't unbuckle it. She is one bound and determined little lady; just like her sister.

And she is also a little monkey; I mean a BIG TIME climber. She insists on walking down the stairs the right way. And I mean walking with one hand against the wall/railing and the other holding out hand and taking one step at a time facing forward. And she does it pretty well. If she is outside she can easily walk down one or two steps by herself facing front (but it makes me super worried that she is going to fall face first into the concrete). And to make things worse, look who can climb ALL the way into her high chair all by herself (Daddy was just their spotting since we don't want her to fall back and crack her head open). Can we tell she has an older sibling who like to climb and do things all by herself?!?!?

SUCCESS and SO proud of herself! And what do we do when the climb is done.... Let's buckle!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY!

Can we tell by this post that Ashley is making me a bit nervous with all her new found independence with walking and climbing? WOW- this age wears me out!

Jenny

Deanna Rose slide

Here is a picture from one of our more recent trips to Deanna Rose. Doesn't it scream happiness???
To make a long story short, Anna and her friend Cooper wanted to slide down the slide. So they ran into the barn and started walking up the stairs to get tot he slide and Anna started freaking out asking me if I'd come with her. So with Ashely on my hip, I walked up and somehow managed to fit us all 3 down a tunnel slide! And by the look of her face I think I made her day!

We love Deanna Rose!

Jenny

Thanks Ashley for the pic!
