Spring Break- Destin Morning of Day 2

With our clothes still not in our possession, we enjoyed a lazy morning filled with electronics, TV, sleeping in for mommy and arts and crafts in our pajamas (aka Googols t-shirts).

Then we headed out on a walk to the Donut Hut (YUM!) While there we got a token for a free donut to be used the next day! We were so excited!!!

After guzzling down the donuts outside the shop and on the walk home, we headed down to the beach to play in the sand until our luggage arrived.

Ashley was determined to dig her way to Chine and unfortunately since the wind was blowing so out of control we had to leave the beach earlier then anyone wanted to. So we decided to walk across the street to a yummy little Italian joint called Angelina's. YUM.

When we were walking back from lunch my phone rang with good news- my luggage was at our place ready for delivery!!!!!! So we got our bags, found out everything was wet (sigh), put on our swim suits and attempted the pool.

But it was too windy and cold. Abby was the trooper this time, swimming for a good 15 minutes before I made her come out.

And just like the day before, a hot bath and blankets on the patio was needed to warm them up!

Spring Break- Destin Day 1

We got to Grama and Papa's place mid afternoon. We were so excited to be with them and at the beach! Since we didn't have any bags to unpack, Papa gave us a ride instead :)

We checked out their place and their view (gorgeous!)

And then headed down to walk and hang out on the ocean. It felt great to be back at the beach again!

In the past trips to the ocean Abby has been very hesitant about walking into the water. This trip was different. Anna was ankle deep in the water and Abby decided to go out and join her. Being that she has NEVER even attempted to go towards the water on her own, I let her go and followed closely behind. The waves were pretty rough but I wasn't too worried about them being in the water to their ankles. Well, I was wrong. Right when Abby got to her ankles and strong wave and current knocked and pulled her under the water, causing her to do a back somersault and land on her face. Luckily I was within steps of her and grabbed her. I don't want to think about what could have happened if i wasn't close behind. When I picked her up I asked if she was okay and she told me, "Good thing Coach Heather work me hard." She didn't even cry. I asked her if she was okay and she told me she never wanted to stand on her head in the ocean again. I asked her what she did when her face went under water and she said she breathed out her nose, just like Coach Heather taught her. I then asked if she would get back in the water sometime again and she told me, "Yes. But not today." So with this freezing little girl in my arms I changed her out of her wet and sand filled clothes and into one of her sisters sweatshirts. Then we headed in.

What a brave and strong kid.

On the way back to Grama and Papa's place we stopped by the pool and HAD to get in. Anna and Abby were satisfied with wading in the pool up to their knees until they were simply too cold. But bathing suit or not, it didn't stop Ashley. Neither did the fact that the water was freezing. This little fish would have swam in her clothes longer if I let her but made her get out after 15 minutes.

The girls warmed their bodies up in a warm bath.

And then we all snuggled in for some late afternoon/early evening couch cuddles, naps and TV. A great way to end a long day os being up since 3:45 AM!

What a great first day with Googah and Papa!!

Spring Break- Travel to Florida

The girls and I jumpstarted our Spring Break on the Sunday before Spring Break started (I pulled them out of 4 days of school). We were up in the sky before sun rise.

Once in rainy Houston, we managed to kill a 4 hour lay over by playing Pokemon Go, watching the rain pour, eating snacks and playing with the things we packed in our backpack. All in all the travel day was very smooth. Until....

We showed up to Panana City Airport to this.

No car seats and no bags. They were left in rainy Houston. After a lofty line and paperwork, an hour and a half later we were well on our way to Destin. 24 hours later we received our luggage which was soaking wet from being left out in the rain in Houston. And it smelled horrible. So I had to spend time redoing laundry and repacking (too things I despise but atlas I was doing it on vacation at the ocean). And good thing we were at my moms and could borrow her clothes and use their washer and dryer in their place.

We were just so glad to finally be in Florida!

Miss Fehr and basketball

Ashley's teacher, Miss Fehr, surprised Ashley at one of her basketball games. And since Ashley's game was the last one, Miss Fehr stayed after and shot some baskets just with Ashley. So special to have a teacher who surprises them at events!

Grown Up Abby

"Abby what do you want to be when you grow up?"

She responds with a huge smile, "YOU!" and then gabs on and on about being me when she's older. And then she ends with a pause followed by, "and a school bus!" (driver she means!)
