Anna's first Parent Teacher Conference
I am so happy. And if you don't want to read about a mom bragging about her child then stop here. This blog is for family documentation purposes and I don't want to forget her first conference :)
So today we went to Anna's preschool conference with her teachers.
Here is her report card:
Her teachers said that at this age they normally see a kid who is higher in social or higher in academic, and it is more rare to excel in both like Anna is currently doing. They could have stopped here and I would have been the happiest parent ever. I am so glad she is learning to be balanced socially and academically at a young age; I believe it is THE most important part of preschool/Kindergarten and was what I wanted most for my Anna. I am so proud of her.
They said she is such a happy kid. Loves playing with friends in dramatic play. And she always includes others; mostly girls. And she LOVES her group of girl friends :) And they said she does amazing job with her peers.
They said she is extremely patient and reflective. They say she waits for others to share and she listens before putting in her sense (she definitely gets this from her daddy). I was also happy to hear this because this isn't always the case at home.
As for her work:
She has grown in her drawing. They showed me her self portrait in the fall and one she recently made. I wish I would have taken pictures of it to show the progress... don't worry I will post when I get them. They were awesome!
She has also grown in ability to write her own name. They said they were so happy to see a child at the beginning of the year know how to write her first and last name (even though it wasn't expected) and they said her transition to using lower case letters has been superb! She can write Anna Stilley correctly with upper case and lower case letters.
The did a recent Eric Carle art activity. They showed me her creation and they said she produced very high level work for her age. They could clearly see what she was making and meaning. Of course she drew Elsa playing ball in the ocean! I needed to take a picture of that one too :) It was beautiful.
Both teachers said that half or full day kindergarten would be a perfect fit for Anna. They said that they are more then 100% confident that she is ready for the transition that lies ahead.
Once again, I couldn't be more proud.

Happy 49 months old Ash Ash!
This is from almost a month ago :) Will do more updates in a couple of days when she turns 50 months old :)
Favorite songs- Girls just wanna have fun, Annie- A hard A Knock Life, Tomorrow and any others that Annie sings and of course, Frozen :)
Anna's 5 1/2
Happy 5 1/2. WOW.
Happy 5 1/2 years Anna :)
She is becoming quite the social butterfly. She loves all her girlfriends (preschool and neighbors) and has recently started talking about playing chase at recess and wanting a play date with a boy Barrett (who just happens to be best friends with Ashley's favorite boy in her class AJ). This child is quite star struck by older kids and just wants to be in on the action with other kids. I LOVE that she wants to be social but WOW is it wearing mommy out :) And if we aren't playing with them then we are talking about them :)
Improving on her reading every time she reads. Her speech sounds great! She is really thriving in the classroom. I have noticed that she is starting to rush through arts and crafts that we do at home. She still does a pretty good job but is less focused then in the past; I am pretty sure it's the age :)
She is still such a good big sister; always on the lookout for little sis Ashley when playing in the neighborhood. LOVE Abby and Ashley so much!
All the bike riding and social activity is making her exhausted! We have a pretty tired little lady when mommy calls everyone in around 5:45 after a long, fun day. Recently she has been getting upset with me that there is not enough time in the day and she wants to just play (after 8 hours of pure raw, nonstop playing). There is only so much I can do sweet Anna.
She still loves mommy and daddy cuddles. She also still has a hard time sitting in her seat during dinner because she usually wants to be loving on Daddy during this time.
Is a goofy girl who likes to make jokes and tell stories about poop, farts and toots. Totally inappropriate. And she also toots like a grown boy and many times I have to unroll the window of the car.
We love you Anna Banana!

Ashley can read a book!

We have kept Ashley content by teaching her her letters, numbers and writing letters and numbers but now she is ready to read.
This little book is made up of 3 words- I, see and Hello.
And boy can she read those 3 words well :)

After swimming surprise!
Last week, Mommy was so impressed with our swimming that she surprised us with doughnuts after practice! She said she was so proud of how well we listened to our coaches and how we tried our best the entire practice. We were so excited to get doughnuts we told her we were going to do this well at swimming every week :)
