Black River Ice Cream Shoppe
One afternoon while in SE MO we ventured out for ice cream at the black river ice cream shoppe (literally one of maybe 4 places to eat in town) for some ice cream.
The girls were STOKED when we saw that there was a cabana outside the store that looked just like Cherry Jam's (Strawberry Shortcake's friend) stage. So needless to say they put on a little performance for Daddy, Abby and me while we ate fast melting ice cream with lots of sprinkles!!!!!

Johnson Shut ins
It got pretty hot last week in Southeast Missouri so we tried to get an easy start on our day's activities. This was very easy to do since I think 3 of the days the girls were up around 5:30 and ready go! And the best place to be outside when it's hot?!?!?!
WATER!!!
The first (and last day) we went to the Johnson Shut In's to swim. The first time we went we took toddlers and a baby in a baby carrier in an area that was hard for Rob and I to climb, let alone kids. The girls did great and so did I with carrying Abby but people we looking at us like we were CRAZY people! the girls had fun and we did too so we honestly didn't care!
The girls weren't too thrilled with the really deep swimming areas but loved climbing the rocks and playing in the small pools of water!
How I got over to the other side was quite a sight and adventure! Nothing Abby and I can't do together!!!
Ashley was pouting.... I don't remember what it was over, but she does the pout well, don't ya think?!
GO Royals!
Picnic after!
The girls were SO tired and "napped" on the benches!!!! They both took great naps that day :)

Hummingbird Hideaway
Last week we spent an entire week at the Hummingbird Hideaway in Southeast, Missouri near Lesterville, MO. We had so much fun and it was such a great get away. We had no internet, phone service, TV service and we were able to totally relax, read books, take naps with the girls, take walks in the creek on the property, go to bed early, play and enjoy the mornings outside (it was too hot after lunch to be out!) And the coolest thing about it to the girl; bunk beds!!!!!!!!!
Mommy was really excited to see all the hummingbirds and was greatly disappointed when we got there and the hummingbird juice was out. She thinks she saw one hummingbird eating from a flower in a bush but isn't 100% sure it was one. Oh well, you can't have it all!
We ate lots of watermelon- yum!
The girls loved the marshmallow roasting sticks and thought they were King Triton's Trident (from the little mermaid).
Walking to and in the creek just minutes walking distance from our cabin.
Throwing rocks!
Watching movies the nights that we both took naps during the day!
We love vacation and can't wait to do it again!!!!
Night Visits
The past month we have had numerous "visitors" in our room throughout the night.
These visits would consist of one of the following:
1. a child passed out somewhere on our floor and I'd find them when getting up to feed Abby
2. a child climbing over us and falling asleep in between us
3. a child staring at us an inch away from our faces
4. a child crying for us (this has really calmed down)
We would simply let them stay in our room for a while and then return them to their rooms and it seemed to solve the issue that night. But then it would happen the next night for about 3 weeks straight with either girl.
But we are happy to report (knock on wood) that these "visits" have slowed down since the girls started sharing a room (more on that soon) and since they got a night light.
Now we are just dealing with the 5:45 - 6:15 wake up greetings in our room from Ashley requesting her baba immediately!!
Who needs sleep, right?!?!
Much Love,
Jenny
