the BESt part about Thanksgiving dinner

is obviously the sides.

But my favorite Thanksgiving tradition are the many cold turkey sandwiches you get to make days later with the leftovers. Add a couple slices of chedder cheese, mayo, lettuce and tomato and you have yourself a winner.

And Anna agrees. She literally has to fight me for a bite :)

Turkey Playdate

Today we went to a play date with the church mom's group and we had a turkey party. We played with toys, made these cool little turkeys and had a snack. Anna friend Hank was there and even though they did not say a word the entire time Anna said she had "so much fun with Hank." Cracks me up!

Anna's turkey- she traced her own hands for the feathers (I cut them out) and she glued everything on herself

Ashley's turkey- she LET me trace the hands and feet! And THAT mere fact that she let me is success!

Thanksgiving Evening Meal

After naps on Thanksgiving Day we headed to my parents to stuff us silly with another amazing turkey day meal. It didn't disappoint (my favorite was Rob's sweet potato casserole and mom's stuffing- she makes the best!) and we had a great time relaxing and hanging out with Grama, Papa and the Horton's. The girls favorite was definitely the "booze," raspberry sparkling drink from Trader Joes that Aunt Anne got for the kids. YUMM!  And it was even better in the wine glasses! If you can't tell, Ashley hated it!

Thanksgiving Lunch

Here we are helping Daddy make his yearly Thanksgiving contribution of green bean casserole. 

 We also made turkey cookies with mommy.

This year we hosted the extended Stilley side for Thanksgiving Lunch.We had 18 adults and 2 kids, so a pretty full house. But our house worked great.

We had set the tables with Grandma Stilley's china and glassware, the silver my grandma gave me, fancy napkin rings with Thanksgiving napkins and a fun centerpiece. I really had fun using all my nice stuff for the first time since moving into the house. Anna kept telling me that it was the most beautiful Happy Thanksgiving ever.

We loved hosting because we didn't have to drive a far way (in the past we have driven almost 2 hours back and forth to things in the KC area and this year it was a total of 10 min) and we didn't feel restricted by nap time. When it was time, we just disappeared with the girls and put them down. The girls loved playing with their toys while the adults chatted.

It was a very nice meal (my favorite was the corn casserole and cheesecake) and we hope to host again!

Diva Day

The Tuesday before Thanksgiving Kate invited us to have a Diva Day with her. Her Grama Vicki had given her 3 groupons and Kate decided to invite us wit her. We had a blast. We decided to wear our Belle and Snow White outfits and we got our hair, nails and lips done. Anna was so funny while getting her hair (braided bun with gold glitter), lips (gold glitter) and nails (purple!) done; watching the lady in every step. It took a while for Ashley to feel comfortable with the ladies but once she did she got her nails painted blue and gold glitter in her hair. We felt so pretty and afterwards we went out to eat with Aunt Anna and Kate.

Thanks so much Grama Vicki and Kate! We were total Diva's for the day :)
