Friends
Yesterday at dance, a mother comes up to me to thank me for the following conversation between her daughter and Anna the previous week at dance class.
JJ: "Anna will you be my friend?"
Anna: "JJ we already ARE friends!!!" (Apparently this MADE JJ's day!)
She was thanking us for making Anna so sweet and wanted to share the story with us because it made her smile!
Much Love,
Jenny

Denver
This past weekend we took a road trip to Denver to see the newest addition to our family, Baby Eldon. Rob's youngest brothers family lives out there and we wanted to meet to little guy, see Jeff and Megan and play with Leland (who turns 3 in April).
Grammy joined us on the car ride out and stayed with us at a little place we had rented close to Jeff and Megan's. The weather was PERFECT so on Saturday we hit up on of the most beautiful playgrounds I have ever been to (I couldn't stop daydreaming while looking at the mountains in the distance) and on Sunday we hit up the zoo and had a picnic in the backyard while the girls ran around like CRAZY playing Frozen. We even built a mini snowman (Olaf) in the backyard!
The girls loved EVERY second they got to play with Leland and it was so great seeing 3 weeks old Eldon; he's tiny! We headed back on Monday (Rob had the day off for MLK day) and made a record time with kids of 8 1/2 hours!
We love long weekend getaways... where should we go next?!?!
Much Love,
Jenny
PS I had my camera at the park and at the place we stayed at. Somehow I managed to leave it in the car at the zoo and at home when we were at Jeff and Megan's. So the picture taking was pretty low.

Anna's First Swin Lesson
Anna arrived at the pool today, ready to conquer the world.
She had heard all about Ashley's swim lessons last Thursday and could not wait to show everyone how she can swim on her own (with puddle jumper floatees!!!) We arrived 10 minutes early and put our stuff down in a chair. When I looked up from putting our stuff on a seat, Anna had literally pranced 20 feet away and started her way walking down the steps into the pool, giving me her biggest smile and wave. I called her back since she was not supposed to do that :)
She watched as others finished up their lessons and then looked at me and asked where her eye goggle things were. I had forgotten them at home but she didn't care because she had spotted a wall of goggles to borrow. She pranced over there, selected her goggles and we put them on over her swim cap. My girl was ready to become the next Olympic swimmer!
Coach Lauri called her over and talked with her a little. Anna was shy but warmed up to her in no time. Once Lauri started paying attention to her, she never looked back at me. She is one of four in her class so she got around 10 minutes of swim time with coach and rocked it! The other 3 kids are her age and swimming on their own so I think it is very reassuring and encouraging to Anna.
Coach started her swimming with the "Bubble" and says she will be "bubble" certified in 1 or two sessions. She said that she hasn't had a swimmer catch on as fast as Anna in a long time and it's very refreshing. She held her hands and then let go; letting Anna swim with the floatee on her back. This child was all smiles. Even when coach dunked her 3 times she came up laughing and smiling. Even when she was doing the back float (coach was holding her head up) she was smiling. She trusted coach Angie 100%.
At the end Coach Angie said she was a "natural" and will be swimming on her own before we know it. She says what Anna did in one session usually takes 2-3 months.
Way to go Anna!!!! She can not WAIT to go back :)

Ashley's First Swimming Lessons
I signed both girls up at Midwest Aquatics for swim lesson. Anna will go on Mondays and Ashley will go on Thursdays. Unfortunately they couldn't get both girls together or even back to back on our available days. But after seeing them both swim, I think it's a good thing. It kind of gives them their own thing to do and I think they will thrive in their own class.
Ashley had the first swim lesson because Anna's was cancelled due to the extreme cold weather we had. Ashley seemed excited to go. I had promised her a doughnut if she listened to coach and did what she asked so I am not sure if she was excited about swimming or the fact that if she swims she gets a doughnut. But nonetheless, she was excited.
Ashley is one of three in her group. They are all swimming on their own; one is swimming the length of the pool, the other one is just swimming back and forth a ways to coach. Ashley started with the "bubble" floatee on her back and did great. The first time out with coach she was smiling and doing what coach asked. By the end of class she was still smiling and "swimming" alone with the bubble on her back while holding onto floatable barbells to help her stay straight up.
Coach said she did awesome for her first time! Way to go Ash Ash!!!
Much Love,
Jenny
PS During her second lesson she went under trying to master the "bubble" without holding onto coach or barbells. She had a massive panic attack and was nervous that she was getting water in her mouth and luckily the coach is so awesome and calm with the kids that she got her all under control. Ashley came out smiling and excited to go back again.

Go Fish
We LOVE playing cards with the bad guy/good guy cards Santa got us for Christmas. Our favorite game.... GO FISH!!!
Even though Ashley has a hard time sitting through more then 10 minutes of the game, she is ALWAYS asking to play bad guy cards!!!!
Anna thinks she is pretty big stuff with the fact that she can hold all her cards in her hand.

Frozen AGAIN
Yesterday we decided to give Daddy some study time (he is getting another certification for something in the finance field) and Mommy had the best idea.... FROZEN again!!!!
The theatre by our house lets kids 3 and under in free and the first show of the day adults pay $5. Well, just like the first time we saw Frozen the boy told us that Anna could be 3 for the day.... meaning we got a heck of a deal again!
I mean where can you go for 2 hours on $5 for 3 people???? AWESOME! And plus- we got to see the movie AGAIN!
It was super hard not to sing and dance and although Ashley did break out in song during Let It Go and Summer we had a ball :) And we loved it just as much as the first time.
Love,
Anna and Ashley
PS We want to go AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
